Permanent Makeup Chicago: Microblading and How to Prepare for it.

Updated: Mar 28, 2022

Sick of all the stylists keeping their best secrets to before and after-care with your permanent makeup or microblading in Chicago? I am here to empower you on your journey to creating permanent eyebrows in Chicago because you deserve the best permanent makeup or microblading experience you can get. Wake up with your makeup here at Rize Beauty Lab!

Below I will offer simple steps to prepare for your next appointment in either permanent makeup.

Tip #1 - Get a Free Consultation with a Professional Permanent Makeup Artist or Microblading Esthetician in Chicago

If the Salon you want to go to does not offer this, then run! It is important when you are doing something permanent to feel safe and provided for by the space that is doing the service. At Rize Beauty Lab, we pride ourselves in our patience and care for our client's comfort and perfectionism of our hyper-realistic permanent makeup and microblading techniques.

Tip #2 - 5 days before microblading or permanent makeup, don't take any blood thinners.

What are blood thinners, you ask?

If you are on a blood thinner medicine (Heparin, Warfarin.. ), I hope you know that you are taking one. Listed below are some natural medicines and foods that can also thin your blood that you may not know about.

  • Vitamin E

  • Fish Oil

  • Aspirin

  • Melatonin

  • Ginkgo

  • Green Tea

  • Garlic, Turmeric, and Ginger

  • Pomegranate

"Lots of people take supplements, like fish oil, melatonin, or ginkgo. The FDA doesn’t regulate these the same way they do prescription and over-the-counter drugs. But that doesn’t mean they’re less powerful." – WebMd

Tip #3 - Let Your Microblading or Permanent Makeup Session be Special. Take Your Time Getting What You Want.

Visualize your thicker eyebrows. See your individual hairs so realistic even you can't tell what's you and what is from microblading or permanent makeup.

The beauty industry in Chicago and worldwide has blossomed in the last ten years and new techniques are coming up every day. It is normal for you not to be up to date with every latest trend... that is my job!

I learn new techniques and have been doing this for over twenty years so you don't have to worry about AND you can feel safe knowing I got your back. :)

Working with clients, to me is a collaborative process where I am here to make my clients feel safe, supported, and nurtured in this process. Permanent makeup can be scary and intimidating and I empathize with what it can be like sitting in that chair. I am patient, passionate, and gentle- and for a permanent makeup artist with a tattoo machine, believe me, that is the perfect trifecta for an amazing end result. Happy clients and a fierce face!

At Rize Beauty Lab, we usually spend about an hour just getting the shape and style right for both of us to be comfortable for the next step of making it permanent.

Tip #4 - Ask for numbing cream whenever you want to not feel the Permanent Makeup or Microblading. Don't try to be tough, speak up!

So often when we are clients in a chair we find ourselves being quiet and not asking for what we want. I use a numbing cream the entire time during your session so you don't have to feel any pain/it's practically painless.

Getting tattooed does not necessarily mean you have to deal with the same pain as normal tattoos. With permanent makeup and microblading in Chicago, numbing cream is constantly applied and reapplied to keep you comfortable in the chair so that you can just relax and enjoy your beautiful eyebrows, lips, or liner.

Many of our clients even fall asleep during the process!

TIP #5 - After-care is important and will differ depending on the service. Microblading aftercare is different from permanent makeup aftercare.

Learn more about your specific after-care and healing process in our other blogs about permanent makeup and microblading. Whenever someone gives you a protocol, make sure it specifies the service they provided and is not just a general practice. To achieve the best results, each style of permanent makeup requires specific procedures.

Very often, microblading is the most sensitive and takes the longest to heal versus permanent makeup and machine hair strokes which heal faster and is a gentler process on your skin.
