Microblading & Permanent Makeup Chicago

Machine Hair Strokes

My experience as a Make-up artist spans over 20 years and that experience made the transition to permanent makeup come very naturally to me.

Whatever procedure you choose I always start by pre-drawing the eyebrow, eyeliner or lip shape and color and do not be afraid to hurt my feelings this time is meant to make sure the shape is exactly what you dream of. Once you are happy with the shape then I will make it a permanent feature that you can feel confident about.

What Is Machine Hair strokes

Machine hair strokes are similar to microblading but  lasts longer, hair strokes are less likely to get blurred, better for oily skin and darker skin tones and no chance of creating scar tissue. The hair-strokes process uses a machine that has one tiny needle that inserts small dots of ink inside the skin. This procedure is almost painless and you can perform machine hair-strokes without any numbing cream. This method tightly locks the ink within as the dots increase and align together to create a stroke

What to expect during your session

Machine hair strokes at Rize Beauty Lab always starts with the mapping out of the eye brows. After wiping the area with alcohol your eyebrows will be drawn on with an eyebrow pencil. this process can take up to an hour and sometimes more because we want to make sure you love the shape of your brows and we will listen to you and make sure you are in love with the shape of your new brows before the procedure begins. There are multiple measuring devices used to make sure the brows are as even and balanced as possible. Only after you are happy with the shape do we begin the next step in your machine hair strokes session. The artist will place a few different pigment color swatches on your forehead and together the two of you find the perfect color to use for your machine hair strokes session. The artist will show you the brand new unopened package for the needle that will be used. For machine hair strokes there is no need for numbing cream because the first pass with the permanent makeup machine is done so gently that it does not hurt. Once the first pass is finished and the framework is laid out then the numbing cream is applied so when the machine hair strokes are done a few more times over the same pattern it will not hurt at all. Everything used on you is brand new, sterilized and after the machine hair strokes session is complete the items will be disposed of in an approved sharps container. Gloves are always worn and everything from the chairs, tattoo cart, lighting and more are all wiped down with hospital grade sterilizing wipes. (This is all done before and after your machine hair strokes appointment).

What to expect during your healing process

For machine hair strokes it will seem like the healing process takes 10 to 12 days but the pigment needs time to settle into the final color because there is still internal happening for a few more weeks. The area is not completely healed until 6 to 8 weeks have past since the initial session and only after that time has passed can you decide if you need a touch up or not.

Machine hair strokes healing process.

Day 1 and 2 - Your brows will feel a bit tender as well as red and swollen. The area is still freshly done and can be infected so never touch them with unwashed hands. The hair strokes will be darker than you wanted but this is just a normal part of the healing process.

Day 3 and 4 - Your brows may begin to feel tight and itchy but do not scratch because at this stage scabs begin to form and if you scratch one off you will also take away the pigment.

Day 5 through 7 - This is not the most attractive phase of the healing process because the scabs start to peel and flake. You must be diligent, do not pull, pick , rub or try to wash off any of this or you will pull away the color, if you see a flake dangling there you need to leave it alone.

Days 8 through 10 - This is the ghosting phase of the healing process. Your brows will be lighter than you wanted and may even look like they are completely gone but this is only an illusion because you there is a new layer of skin that formed and this milky layers is not translucent so the pigment is not visible but once the skin fully heals you will see your machine hair strokes color returning.

Days 11 through 14 - During this phase you can expect the peeling to come to and end and you no longer have to follow the aftercare instructions given to you.

Days 15 through 42 - It takes this much time for the color to truly re- appear and it takes 42 days for the internal healing to complete. Now you will know if there are any hair strokes you want touched up or not and only at this time since it is completely healed can you get a touch up.

What should I do prior to my appointment

For the very best healing process and to get the best final result it is recommended that you avoid any blood thinners for 5 days prior to your machine hair stroke session. This is because the less bleeding you do, the easier it is to get the pigment to stay in the skin, less passes are needed to go over each hair stroke so there is less trauma to the skin. When you are bleeding too much during the session it is like the blood is watering down the pigment making it a lot harder to saturate into the skin so the skin is more traumatized and you will scab more. The more you scab the more likely to loose pigment.

5 days prior to your appointment avoid

-Drinking alcohol

-Aspirin or any other blood thinning medication. ( You will have to ask your doctor if it is ok to stop this medication)

- Fish oil, While fish oil can be good for you as a supplement it does cause you to bleed more so this needs to be avoided.

It is also recommended that you do not pluck or tweeze your brows the day of or the day before your  appointment because you can cause a tiny tattoo dot if pigment gets into removed follicle.

Is Machine hair stroke Painful

Although the procedure can take upward of 2 hours, most people report only feeling minor pressure or discomfort and less pain than a typical tattoo due to the use of numbing cream. ... Some level of pain or discomfort should be expected.

Is Machine hair strokes or Microblading better

The goal of both microblading and machine hair strokes are the same, to get a natural hair like effect to reshape or fill in your brows. With microblading there are some skin types that should not get it done, if you have oily skin or darker skin tones should avoid having microblading done, again the goal is for the hair stroke effect and if you have either of those skin types it is very likely the microblading pattern will become blurred away and you can be left with a powder brow effect that is not even looking. Also many people do not retain any pigment at all from their microblading session. So if you do not have oily or combination oily skin or dark skin then you may like the microblading technique, if not then you are a candidate for machine hair stokes. Machine hair strokes also have a natural hair pattern effect but it is done with a semi permanent makeup machine and a single nano needle. Instead of a blade cutting into the skin the pigment will instead be injected under the skin with the nano needle leaving less trauma to the skin, allowing more pigment to be placed under the skin. The hair strokes done with the machine are much less likely to be blurred out or fade and machine hair strokes last longer than microblading so you do not have to have it done as often. Many clients who have had microblading in the past have come to get machine hair strokes and they comment that it is less painful and the healing process is a lot easier. After microblading is done and you are not healed yet the skin is open and the pigment can be washed away so you have to be careful not to get them wet. With machine hair strokes this is not a problem while you do want to be careful with your new brows you do wash them gently morning and night. Microblading will go through a very dark period where they look very dramatic and crusty for a few days and with the Machine hair strokes it is less dramatic because there is less trauma to the skin.
